local community events on vacation

Before vacation, we check out the local chamber of commerce, local paper online, etc. to see what's going on while we're there. I promise there are some real delights for you to find. Pictured was boat race where people made boats out of cardboard to raise money for a new public park in Maine. There was a local fair where the real Sal from Blueberries with Sal read the book to kids. It's really special to do something only available for the time you are there. Seek these things out, spend your some travel budget on the community.
