consider a rocky beach

An adventure beach! A hike by the water with no destination! A different experience entirely from a sand beach. Spend hours scrabbling rocks, skipping stones, looking for sea glass, making a pile of periwinkle shells, and finding crabs, starfish and sea urchins. No sand on your feet/food/stuff, nobody's getting too hot, vibe is quieter 😎 this started to hit for our kids at about 4 when they can climb and be steady on their feet.
